This 2026 film year as many know is LOADED. There are big time actors and actresses playing in pivotal and large scale films to be released this year that will be talked about for a long time. What makes this year unique is you have a lot of these actors and actresses pulling double duty in multiple films. This begs the question of if there was an MVP for film for the 2026 year, who would it be? I’m not talking best performance like the Oscars gives out, someone who was the most valuable to the overall world of film and releases in 2026. Here are my candidates that I believe could take the crown.
Tom Holland: Spiderman Brand New Day could be super hero movie of the year even with Doomsday coming out. Tom Holland could be MVP if his standalone film (while also in Doomsday) exceeds an Avengers movie. Also, he is a significant character in The Odyssey, which should be the biggest spectacle of the entire year for film and theatre experiences. Ton playing sad Spidey that’s out of high school is going to do numbers for comic book fans ready for a return to form for the superhero.
Anne Hathaway: Devil Wears Prada 2, Odyssey, Mother Mary and End of Oak Street all in 2026. She continues to age like LeBron James and fine wine, and this lineup is possibly the biggest of any of these potential MVPs. She will have the big time appeal in those first two and capture critical acclaim on top of that with Mother Mary and End of Oak Street. She always delivers as well. End of Oak Street is a sleeper for most intriguing film of the year for me and she is a huge part of that.
Florence Pugh: While only highlighting Dune and Doomsday, can’t go without mentioning how they will both be bangers that Pugh is involved in releasing on the same day. Huge performances in both could make her the actress everyone is talking about as the year ends. I expect the Thunderbolts to be a big part of Avengers Doomsday, and they set her up in Dune to now have a significant role compared to the second film. Plus she is an incredible actress that will deliver.
Robert Pattinson: Going to have a role in the biggest epic of the year in the Odyssey, still unsure of how big that role is, but if that role plus his villainous role in Dune play out to be movie stealing performances, he could grab the MVP of 2026. The Drama has received amazing reviews already and could be the most notable A24 film of the year with all the early praise it is getting. I’m sure it will pick up steam again when it drops on HBO Max. Plus he always has a chance at this award with the significant and unique roles he plays in his current stardom.
MY PREDICTION: I’m giving the 2026 crown of Film MVP to Anne Hathaway! With those four banger films listed, she has Devil Wears Prada and the Odyssey making a huge stamp on the mainstream, sneaky gems in the other two films mentioned, and an aura already that makes her the face of film in 2026.
