With Amazon now doing auditions for the next James Bond, it only feels right to assess some potential candidates people have been throwing out there. I narrowed it down to five I am hearing the most. I’m going to take this blog to give my thoughts to a few of the big names. This by no means is everybody being rumored, and who plays Bond may not even be on this short list, but it’s fun to imagine and evaluate the potential fit on some of the big stars.
- JACOB ELORDI

Let’s just come out and say it, he is too tall to be Bond right? I hate that would hold him back, but also the Australian crossing over to a British accent may be tough also. I think he would be fully capable of playing Bond, but that’s a huge leap from some of the other films like Wuthering Heights, and even Frankenstein that are more art style films than what it takes to personify James Bond in this new Bond Era. Would think it would be fun for sure, but don’t see it being that likely that he gets the role.
2. HENRY CAVILL

This feels like the safe pick, but would also be a good pick. He has played various leads and can command the screen of a big film. My only concern is his last few lead role films have really floundered, will people rush to see Bond anymore than the die hard fans because Henry Cavill was casted as Bond? Not too sure. It’s a big name, and I also believe he is fully capable. His fit is more believable than an Elordi would be, and I think there is a decent likelihood they go with him if they don’t decide to take a chance on a young talent like some others on this list.
3. MATT SMITH

The most generic and unexciting choice in my opinion. Sure, I liked him in Last Night in SoHo, but he really doesn’t fit the bill at all for James Bond. He would be the most forgotten James Bond of all time if he was casted. Zero firepower or excitement around him being Bond. The new era of Bond films would flame out quickly if he was casted as the lead in my opinion. I like him in the roles he has played, when he stays in that line, but wouldn’t work as Bond.
4. CALLUM TURNER

I would really like this pick as Bond. I have grown really fond of him in some recent work of his and he feels like he fits the mold while also having a fresh new popularity to him in the new school of rising actors. He could seriously prove his worth with this role and he can rock a black tux. He is not my biased pick that I undoubtedly want (which is next) but I would be extremely happy if they tossed him the rock as Bond.
5: AARON TAYLOR-JOHNSON (my bias pick)

Something about seeing him in films like Bullet Train, Fall Guy and Nosferatu made me buy in on him as a main guy, even if he wasn’t the main protagonist. I think he absolutely has the charisma and look when clean shaven to pull off the perfect modern day James Bond. He would be my pick, and yes it is also because I love him in 28 Years Later, but it has to be him or Callum Turner in my opinion. Too unique of a pick without having any star power behind their name would be a mistake for Amazon. They need someone to drum up excitement in an action franchise that needs some big time revival and juice.
