INITIAL THOUGHTS It isn’t everyday you have a horror film that finds a way to blend folklore, trauma, and 1408 hotel haunting styles all into one. HOKUM finds a way to do that with a fairly simple story, focusing on telegraphed scares that will still make you jump and Scary imagery throughout. This movie I... Continue Reading →
Obsession I have repeatedly been singing the praise of this film because all of the marketing for this film couldn’t be better in my opinion. We had all of the following in the marketing campaign released gradually to lead up to this film making shockwaves across horror come May: - Very short teaser that built suspense... This blog is exactly as the title depicts, what stuck out to me from all of the CinemaCon news at 2026 CinemaCon. It is impossible to cover everything they showed or discussed so I am going to use my bias and favoritism to highlight a few topics and pieces of news that got me really... Continue Reading →
This 2026 film year as many know is LOADED. There are big time actors and actresses playing in pivotal and large scale films to be released this year that will be talked about for a long time. What makes this year unique is you have a lot of these actors and actresses pulling double duty... Continue Reading →
I know this was not a big summer blockbuster release, but there is serious claim to best film of the year for Sorry, Baby directed by Eva Victor and also starring Eva Victor. I am serious when I say this movie from an overall perspective of writing, pacing, cast performances, and delivery of a significant... Continue Reading →
Personally, people have been way too hard on this movie for a directorial debut. You’d think people were expecting Shelby Oaks to be the first horror movie to win Best Picture in 35 years with how they’ve hammered it. Is this movie perfect? No. Does it have pacing flaws and doesn’t quite dive all the... Continue Reading →
Black Phone 2 did what many sequels could only dream of (pun intended), and that was to surpass their predecessor. Many think this film just plays the old beats of Nightmare on Elm Street and Black Phone in one combined package, and my question to that is, how is that a bad thing?? This film... Continue Reading →
By Courtney Roethle INITIAL THOUGHTS This is everything and anything I wanted it to be. I wanted to be kept guessing, I wanted answers, without knowing entirely what all the questions were yet. And Zach Cregger delivered! The packed theatre never had a full reaction to the film, whether it was the parts that scared... Continue Reading →
INITIAL THOUGHTS We are so blessed we have an original horror movie filled with limb twisting, romantic awkward relationship building, and scares to keep you up at night all weaved into one. I feel like calling this a romantic body horror feels right? I don’t know how many other movies I’ve given that thought or... Continue Reading →
Somewhere in the skeleton of this film is a great horror movie. You have the nostalgia factor and I love that Jennifer Love Hewitt had a line to say nostalgia is overrated and it’s so ironic because not even nostalgia could carry this movie to an above average rating in my opinion. The likes of... Continue Reading →
